Announces First Silicon from Foundry
Cambridge, United Kingdom - March 11, 2004 - Artimi Ltd, the fabless semiconductor company developing UWB silicon solutions, announced today that it had successfully demonstrated its UWB wireless technology to select customers and investors.

The advanced demonstration shows broadcast and reception of packet transmission via a wireless UWB network. Mark Moore, Artimi’s CTO, stated “The demonstration is unique in the industry to date, in that it shows integrated multi-media and data transmission via our complete end-to-end system solution in a noisy ‘real-world’ environment, from standard NDIS driver on one PC to a standard NDIS driver on another.”

Moore added, “It successfully shows the entire Artimi system solution that will be available to customers; including PC driver software, peripheral interfaces, MAC processing, the PHY, the analog front-end, and our own patent pending antenna design. Though the demonstration system is currently limited by the FPGAs, production systems will transfer data in excess of 500 Mbps, and potentially at Gigabit speeds. Real world data-rates in excess of 480 Mbps are essential to deliver the USB 2.0 cable replacement products that many of our customers and partners desire for their next generation wireless devices.”
Artimi also announced that it has taken delivery of first silicon from the foundry. “This represents a significant milestone in our technical development,” stated Tom Cooper, VP Sales and Marketing, “and further strengthens our commercial position in the market.” Cooper added, “We are confident of shipping sample silicon of our low cost single chip design with development systems later this year, giving early customers and partners the means of getting product to market materially ahead of their competition. Production silicon is on target for release in the first quarter of 2005.”

Artimi supports the standards process and is a member of relevant standards bodies and industry groups, including the IEEE and the MBOA. Through active participation in the standards process, Artimi will provide compliant products that integrate seamlessly into customers’ systems at the lowest possible cost.
